The beginning of winter is the best time for planting trees. Each December, Balsall Heath Jungle receives a wholesale order of fruit trees and plants from Frank P Matthews Ltd in Tenbury Wells. They are not organically grown, because we know of no wholesale organic supplier, so where possible we select young trees grown in the ground, as these will have had less agrochemicals applied. (If you want to buy organic fruit trees and plants, see Organic Fruit Trees.) After we get them we treat them organically.

These trees are mainly intended for residents of Balsall Heath and our projects at local schools, but are also available to other Birmingham residents at a slightly higher price. If you can pay in advance and collect the bare rooted tree the day after it is delivered to us, you get a very good price indeed. See Price List for details of discounts.
