"Growing Words"

The Balsall Heath Jungle GROWING WORDS event was held as part on Friday 9th September 2005.  Thanks to the Orange Studio and the Oasis Cafe Theatre organisers for hosting it.

In the interval the audience sampled food which included ingredients grown in Balsall Heath, and the recipes were then shared:

Pizza 
Pakora 
Spinach Fritata
Scones  
Damson Jam Gooseberry Jam Birchwood Tornado Jam  It's Raining Egg Plums!

At the end of the interval we were treated to a stunning display of hip-hop dancing. 

Mandy Ross read her children's book, The Gardens of Stanley Street, inspired by Jungle's work.  Lavishly illustrated, published by Birmingham City Council Education Service and available from Jungle at £5.

My family were just saying how interesting it was to find out about the 'Balsall Heath Jungle' and how much they had enjoyed watching the video animation and listening to the the opening song from the 'Heathen Sisters'... plus the poems and composting... and they were also cheered by the hip hop dancer's Grandad who was hoping that she would keep him in his old age! Would you pass our thanks onto your group.
